KefiZone 1.5 S is a combination of Cefoperazone, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, and Sulbactam, a β-lactamase inhibitor. This combination enhances antibacterial efficacy by overcoming resistance mechanisms in β-lactamase-producing bacteria. It is designed for the treatment of severe bacterial infections caused by multidrug-resistant pathogens.
Indications:
KefiZone 1.5 S is used in the treatment of a wide range of serious bacterial infections, including:
- Respiratory Tract Infections: Pneumonia, bronchitis.
- Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Complicated and recurrent infections.
- Intra-Abdominal Infections: Peritonitis, cholangitis.
- Septicemia: Bloodstream infections.
- Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Cellulitis, abscesses, diabetic foot infections.
- Bone and Joint Infections: Osteomyelitis, septic arthritis.
- Gynecological Infections: Pelvic inflammatory disease, endometritis.
- Surgical Prophylaxis: Prevents infections during and after surgery.
Benefits:
- Enhanced Activity: Sulbactam protects Cefoperazone from degradation by β-lactamase enzymes, extending its spectrum of action.
- Broad Spectrum: Effective against gram-positive, gram-negative, and anaerobic bacteria.
- Dual Mechanism: Combines bactericidal action (Cefoperazone) with enzyme inhibition (Sulbactam) for optimal efficacy.
Dosage and Administration:
- Route: Intravenous (IV) or Intramuscular (IM) injection.
- Typical Dosage:
- Adults: 1.5 g every 12 hours (adjustable based on infection severity and patient condition).
