Description:
MedoRic F 80 contains Febuxostat, a xanthine oxidase inhibitor that reduces uric acid levels in the blood. It is specifically designed to manage hyperuricemia (elevated uric acid levels) in patients with gout, a condition characterized by painful joint inflammation caused by urate crystal deposits.
Indications:
MedoRic F 80 is indicated for:
- Chronic Hyperuricemia: Especially in cases where gout symptoms are present.
- Prevention of Gout Flares: By maintaining uric acid levels below saturation levels, preventing crystal formation.
Benefits:
- Provides effective control over uric acid levels.
- Reduces the frequency and severity of gout attacks.
- Suitable for patients with mild to moderate renal impairment.
- A reliable alternative for patients intolerant to allopurinol.
Dosage and Administration:
- Usual Dose: 80 mg once daily, with or without food.
- Dosage may be adjusted based on uric acid levels and patient response.
- Adequate hydration is recommended to facilitate uric acid excretion.
Storage Instructions:
- Store in a cool, dry place at a temperature below 30°C.
- Protect from direct sunlight and moisture.
- Keep out of reach of children.
Precautions:
- Initial Gout Flare: Gout symptoms may temporarily worsen during the initiation of therapy due to mobilization of urate crystals. Prophylactic treatment with NSAIDs or colchicine is recommended.
- Liver Function: Monitor liver enzymes periodically, as Febuxostat may cause liver dysfunction in rare cases.
- Not recommended for patients with severe hepatic impairment or ischemic heart disease.
- Avoid use in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Febuxostat.
Side Effects:
- Common:
- Nausea, diarrhea, rash, dizziness.
- Serious but Rare:
- Liver enzyme abnormalities.
- Cardiovascular events (e.g., myocardial infarction, stroke).
- Severe hypersensitivity reactions (Stevens-Johnson syndrome).
Key Notes:
- Regular monitoring of serum uric acid levels is recommended.
- Complete the prescribed course to achieve optimal results.
- Consult your doctor immediately if severe side effects occur, such as rash, swelling, or chest pain.
