Description:
ZetZen is an antihistamine tablet containing Cetirizine, a second-generation H1 receptor antagonist. Cetirizine is known for its effectiveness in providing relief from symptoms of allergic reactions by blocking histamine, a substance produced by the body during an allergic response.
Indications:
ZetZen is commonly prescribed for the following conditions:
- Allergic Rhinitis:
- Sneezing, runny nose, itchy nose, and watery eyes due to allergies (e.g., pollen, dust mites, pet dander).
- Seasonal Allergies (Hay Fever):
- Relieves symptoms associated with seasonal allergic reactions.
- Chronic Urticaria (Hives):
- Reduces itching and swelling caused by chronic hives or skin reactions.
- Allergic Conjunctivitis:
- Provides relief from eye symptoms such as itching, redness, and tearing due to allergens.
Benefits:
- Non-Sedating: Unlike first-generation antihistamines, Cetirizine has a low sedative effect, making it suitable for daytime use.
- Fast Relief: Works quickly to alleviate common allergy symptoms.
- Long-Lasting Effect: Provides up to 24 hours of symptom relief with a single dose.
- Minimal Side Effects: Compared to older antihistamines, it is less likely to cause drowsiness or impair cognitive function.
Dosage and Administration:
- Adults and Children above 6 years: 10 mg once daily (one tablet).
- Children 2-6 years: 5 mg once daily (half tablet).
- Maximum Dose: Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.

Precautions:
- Kidney or Liver Impairment: Use with caution in patients with renal or hepatic insufficiency, and consult a doctor for dose adjustments.
- Alcohol: Although Cetirizine is less sedating than other antihistamines, alcohol may increase drowsiness and reduce alertness.
- Pregnancy and Lactation: Consult a healthcare provider before use if pregnant or breastfeeding.
